HOW WE BECAME THE TANEYTOWN TAVERN

In 2001, Baltimore area natives Joe and Lucy moved to Taneytown from Howard County.  For five years they owned and operated a small pub, Judges Bench, in Ellicott City.

One thing missing for them in Taneytown was a place to go to eat some good food, drink some beer and watch their favorite teams (Ravens, Orioles, Terrapins).  The opportunity to open such a place came about with the closing of the biker bar, the Gold Deuce.

Joe and Lucy began renovations on the building to return it to its original use as a restaurant and bar.  Although neither Joe nor Lucy had ever set foot inside the Havilah, the very successful restaurant once located in the building, the results of the restoration returned it to its original condition.

Now called the Taneytown Tavern, it’s an exceptional place to eat great food, drink cold beer, sip martinis or wine, and watch the game!
